Work for 10-13 December

C and E Blocks—
Mixed debate

Those of you who have not set up blogs per the instructions at forensicsbythesea.blogspot.com from last week MUST do so this weekend—Sunday at 11 pm is the deadline.   Please send me the link.

While some of you may be doing other events at the Holly, please focus for today and this weekend on the main work of this class.

Speech:                       Practice your pieces with each other.  By the end of the month, you will each need to have:  a solo interp piece (DI/HI/D), a DUO interp piece (select a partner), and an OI program.  All pieces must be selected by Monday, and all cuttings ready by Wednesday (to the extent that you don’t have them).

PF:                  The January topic is “In the United States, plea bargaining undermines the criminal justice system.”  In class today, work as a group to
___      make sure you all know what plea bargaining is (you may use the computers in the back);
___      have developed 3-4 arguments/tags on the topic and have discussed them with each other

Over the weekend, each PF team should write their cases.  The old VB on this topic is at the blog. They are due SUNDAY night by 11 pm—share with me at GoogleDocs using coachdeb8@gmail.com as my email; I will print them and we will review them in class.  We will need 3 PF teams to debate the topic at the Scrimmage Monday afternoon.

LD:     Colin—the old VB for the topic is on the website.  Please have case outlines ready by Sunday night at 11 pm, shared with me at GoogleDocs.  We will work together on Monday.

Congress:       Please discuss the bills in the Blake Bill Packet.  We will be doing some work next week on them.

NOTE ON COLUMBIA:  We will be taking between 25-30 people to Columbia.   I will extend bids to Columbia by the end of December, but bids can be revoked in January. Bids are based on the following criteria:

·        Tournaments attended this season
·        Preparation and attitude
·        NFL points during season
·        Seniority on Team
·        Meeting deadlines

Going to Columbia requires competing, in your Columbia events, at Newton South (1/8), Cape Elizabeth (1/15) and/or Big Lexington (1/14-15).  Newton South has Speech/Congress/PF.  Cape Elizabeth is Speech/Congress only.  Big Lex is VLD, VPF, and NLD.
